PRPB RISPRO research transforms Arenga pinnata fiber into four green systems for tropical buildings that are cooler, more energy-efficient, and more valuable to local communities.

Revitalizing a local value chain.
Gorontalo’s average maximum temperature reaches approximately 35°C. At the same time, the potential of more than 163,000 tapping-ready sugar palm trees has yet to generate optimal value for the region.
This research brings together materials physics, passive architecture, manufacturing engineering, policy, and community empowerment in one nature-based innovation ecosystem.
Four systems.
One sustainable material.
Fiber mesh, ropes, and composite panels are engineered as modular systems for affordable homes, public buildings, and tropical urban spaces.

A modular shade structure combining natural fiber mesh with productive vegetation for tropical transition spaces.

A lightweight vegetated roof system that reduces solar exposure and indoor heat gain.

A sugar-palm-fiber composite insulation panel tested with four matrix materials.
From raw fiber
to adoption-ready systems.
The first year delivered all nine performance indicators. Technical evidence includes mechanical, thermal, air-quality, SEM—EDS, U-value, and real-building validation.
